Maya (Will be studying abroad in the Fall)

Maya's family currently lives in Hong Kong, but she has grown up in Singapore, India, Taiwan and Japan. She is the vice-president of the Society of International Undergraduates (SIU), an Athena Scholar, and is interning at an organization called Asia Initiatives. Maya loves food and can often be found studying in a cafe on the weekends.

Isabelle

Isabelle is a member of the Columbia University Sailing team, does research on fungal sporocarps in professor McGuire's microbiology lab, and is a Speaking Fellow here at Barnard. Isabelle enjoys dancing, reading, all kinds of music, dark chocolate and anything related to the ocean. If Isabelle had to pick a spirit animal it would be an octopus because they are intelligent, flexible, and incredibly cool. Isabelle can't wait to spend some quality time with her residents this year on HEWITT 3!

Josephine

Josephine is a junior majoring in neuroscience & behavior and minoring in English. She writes for various campus publications including the Columbia Daily Spectator and the Columbia Science Review, and is a Writing Fellow (in Training). She engages in research within a neuroscience laboratory studying Alzheimer's and aging, and is the coordinator and treasurer of Community Impact's Columbia Youth Adventurers. She hopes to one day combine her passions into a career that allows her to travel, discover, and lead, though what that might entail she is still figuring out!

Tara

Tara is a proud Dominican and Peruvian! She was born and raised in the beautiful city of New York. Tara tutors middle school students through Barnard's partnership with New York public schools in STEP (Science and Technology Entry Program). She worked with Professor Snow's biology lab during the summer. She has declared a major in Biological Sciences. In her free time she loves to sculpt and dance Bachata!

Shezza

Shezza can almost always be found complaining about all the work she has, eating hummus, and making frantic hand gestures-- courtesy of her strong Lebanese heritage. During her time off from these arduous activities, she's involved with Columbia Students for Justice in Palestine, is a mentor for the Middle Eastern chapter of the Columbia Mentor Initiative, and is Vice President of Turath, the Arab Students Association. Shezza also loves watching emotional pep talks on YouTube and FaceTiming her baby sister and little brother!
